Hello everybody!

In this post I would like to explain how the Danish education system works and what happens for the international and Danish students during and after their studies.

So, to start, I’m going to deal with the Danish student. For Danish students it’s relatively easy to go through their study years. First of all their study program is easier than most of the international programmes. But the most important thing is that all the Danish students can receive a study throughout their education and during summer in between studies. It depends whether the student still resides at their parents place or lives on their own, and also on their parents’ income. However the maximum amount they can receive is around 5,200 DKK.

International students are also taken care of. The main criteria for international students to get the same grant is to have a job with at least 10 hours per week.

Even after studies all students with at least an Academic Degree are eligible to receive unemployment benefits for at least 2 years, where amount starts from 13,000 DKK/month.

Talking about studies by itself, Danes have a really different grading system than France. Starting with a non-check grades: -3 and 0, following by 2, 4, 7, 10, and 12. Their working hours are different than France, because you start your day at 8:30am and you have four modules of 45 minutes and a break between each. At midday there is a thirty minute lunch break and after you restart your lecture with the same scheme as before. Your day finishes at 15:30, this way allows students to work or do sports in addition to studying.

See you soon, Martin.
