Hi everyone!!
Today with my friend Chloé, we decided to go to the Lindholm Høje. It is one of the most notable ancient monument in Denmark. It’s a Viking burial site. There are almost 700 graves on this site, there are cremation graves where the deceasedperson was cremated at the grave site.
We found it near the residential area of Nørresundby (in the north of Aalborg). To find it, you have to take the bus 2C from Nytorv for 20 minutes.
The atmosphere was really frightening because of crows who populate the cemetery. We had the impression of being in a sacred place, we did not dare touch the stones for fear of being attacked by crows or a bad fate!!
On this sunny day, the walk was really nice in the middle of the tombstones. After a little chill time on a bench to enjoy the view, we decided to go to the Lindholm Høje Museet. For 45 DKK (student rate) you can learn all about Viking lifestyle and culture.
For your information, be careful to locate the site exit otherwise you have to do like us and cross the enclosure of goats and climb the fence to find the road and go back home!!
See you !
Claire
